City & Guilds 2921-31 Electric Vehicle Charging
City & Guilds 2921-31 Level 3 Award In Design and installation of domestic and small commercial electric vehicle charging installation
The New qualification is set to replace the existing City and Guilds 2919 and as of July 2023 the 2919 will no longer be available
The qualification in its new format will only be available to practicing Electricians that meet the below criteria
Entry Requirements
Minimum age 18 years old (mandatory)
This course is intended for practicing electricians as part of the assessment for this
qualification, learners must hold one of the following:

ECS Gold Card, JIB Electrician or Approved Electrician Card
The qualifications above must have been achieved no more than 5 years prior to starting this qualification or there must be evidence the candidate has remained current by completing relevant CPD such as a City and Guilds 2382 or equivalent.
Upon completion attendees will be qualified to install both Commercial and Domestic electrical Vehicle Charger units.
The qualification centres around being able to know the key requirements relating to electric vehicle charging equipment, including types of equipment. It includes how to design an installation, inspect, test, commission and maintain installations.
During your study you will cover a range of knowledge and skills across areas including inspection & testing and handing over of electrical vehicle charging equipment. Candidates will be assessed by on-line multiple choice test and a practical assignment.
This 2 day course provides expert guidance on EV charging equipment installation, an important emerging area which is not covered in detail by the current edition of the Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) or the IET€™s Guidance Notes.
The qualification includes additional methods of protecting against open PEN conductor faults and how to assess if an installation has an issue with diverted neutral current. It also includes smart functions in EVSE and relevant items within the
installation as a whole. Integration into prosumer€™s electrical installations including the option of electric vehicles reverse feeding into the installation and/or supply grid.
