IAB Manual Bookkeeping

This is an ONLINE course and can be started at ANYTIME

How the course works:

Once a booking is made, we can usually get you up and running on the course within the same day. An official workbook is sent through the post and a number of lessons/practice questions are sent via email to you. After you complete each lesson and answer the corresponding practice questions, you are asked to submit these to our tutor who will mark them and return it with appropriate feedback. You have access to our tutor at anytime either via email or telephone if you need any help. Once you and your allocated tutor feel you are ready for the exam, you will be submitted for either the January or June exam.

The qualification consists of three different levels:

IAB Level 1 Award in Manual Bookkeeping is aimed at those with very limited knowledge of bookkeeping. It aims to give delegates an insight into the world of a Bookkeeper and show them the very basics of how and why processes work. Please click here for more information.

IAB Level 2 Certificate in Manual Bookkeeping is aimed at those who have some prior Bookkeeping knowledge or work within an accounts related role. The course is more advanced and begins to develop the delegates understanding of double entry bookkeeping. Please click here for more information.

IAB Level 3 Certificate in Manual Bookkeeping is aimed at those who have completed IAB Level 2 Certificate in Manual Bookkeeping or already work as a Bookkeeper. This course is rather complex and will advance the delegates understanding of double entry bookkeeping to the highest standard. Please click here for more information.

What makes IAB qualifications special ?

IAB  Courses are fully accredited by the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).

The IAB was one of the first Awarding Organisations to obtain the crucial QCF recognition status. The IAB has developed 'competence' qualifications which recognise the knowledge and skills required either by employers or for setting up your own Book-Keeping services business.

The Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) is the new framework for creating and accrediting qualifications.

How does the QCF work?

Every unit and qualification in the new framework has a credit value. There are  different sizes of qualification as follows:

• IAB Level 1 Award in Book-Keeping  (9 credits) QCF Accredition number 500/9006/9

• IAB Level 2 Certificate in Book-Keeping (16 credits) QCF Accredition number 500/9053/7

• IAB Level 3 Certificate in Book-Keeping (28 credits) QCF Accredition number 500/8479/3

Qualifications consist of units which are known as ‘shared’ because any other QCF recognised Awarding Organisation can use them. Therefore if a Learner  has successfully completed a unit which belongs to a different qualification they will be able to transfer this credit and therefore not have to repeat the unit.

Unique Learner Numbers(ULN) and the Personal Learner Record

A Unique Learner Number (ULN) is a 10-digit identifier which is applied to the Personal Learner Record of anyone over the age of 14 involved in UK education or training. Learners will retain the same number for accessing their Personal Learner Record throughout their lives, whatever their level of learning and wherever they choose to participate. Each ULN is issued and held by the Learner Registration Service (LRS). The LRS uses the number to index each learner’s identity details, education and training qualifications within the individual Learner record.
