1. B1 Counterbalance Fork Lift Truck Training (Refresher)

This Fork Lift Truck training course is designed to take a qualified counterbalance operator and refresh, update and retest them. Although refresh and retest courses are tailored to the needs of the individual delegate/s and the content will therefore vary slightly from group to group, there are certain aspects that are covered on every course before ‘personalising’ the rest of the training. Instructors will go over the
areas below to test current understanding, making corrections where necessary, before moving
on to practical training. Practical training consists of the delegate/s carrying out a series of
manoeuvres with the instructor making corrections where required. The day is completed with
theory, pre-use and practical tests on the equipment.

    - Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
    - Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulation 1998
    - Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998
    - Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
    - Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992
    - Accidents and associated risks
    - Equipment introduction
    - Understanding hydraulics
    - Rated capacity and load centres
    - Stability and instability factors
    - Driving on inclines
    - Pallet and load assessment
    - Attachments
    - Vehicle loading and unloading
    - Battery care and maintenance or refuelling
    - Use of seatbelts
    - Pre-use checks and defect reporting
    - Full practical training
    - Theory, pre-use checks and practical testing on the equipment

Criteria required for Fork Lift Truck training courses to commence:

    - Classroom for theory with table chairs and an electrical socket
    - Appropriate machinery in sound mechanical condition
    - A safe area of work for training to take place
    - Safe practical training area with racking if used onsite
    - Suitable loads to use during training

2. Reach Fork Lift Truck Training Courses (Refresher)

This Fork Lift Truck training course is designed to take a qualified reach truck operator and refresh, update and retest them. Although refresh and retest courses are tailored to the needs of the individual delegate/s, and the content will therefore vary slightly from group to group, there are certain aspects that are covered
on every course before ‘personalising’ the rest of the training. Instructors will go over the areas
below to test current understanding, making corrections where necessary, before moving on to
practical training. Practical training consists of the delegate/s carrying out a series of manoeuvres
