Course Description:

Trade-Skills are recognised as one of the leading approved IPAF training providers in the UK. Operating nationwide from either your own premises or our own extensive network of depots spread throughout the UK, you can be confident that we can deliver a course suited to your needs.

Course Overview

Trade-Skills can provide training for a wide variety of MEWP's. Our standard course covers IPAF Boom and Scissor training, however we can incorporate other machines into the training if requested.

Upon successful completion of an IPAF course you will receive a PAL (Powered Access Licence) card and an IPAF operator’s log book to record the various machines you operate. Your PAL card is valid for 5 years giving instant recognition of your identity and the IPAF categories you’re qualified to operate.

Course entry requirements:
• Applicants should be at least 16 years old.
• It is desirable (but not mandatory) that applicants should be literate.
• It is desirable (but not mandatory) that applicants have had driving experience as an indication of dexterity.

Course objectives - The delegate will be able to:
• Be fully aware of the relevant Health & Safety regulations and accident prevention and control.
• Be fully aware of the needs regarding personal protection equipment.
• Be able to manoeuvre the machine as required, and drive the machine proficiently and safely.
• Be able to correctly position and carry out the required tasks in a correct and proper manner.

Course outline:
• Awareness of different types of MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platform)
• Safe operation of MEWPs and limitations of use
• Pre-use checks, inspection and function tests
• Planning the route before operating the MEWP
• Travelling the route & manoeuvring the MEWP
• Setting up the MEWP for work
• Basic operational practice
• Achievement testing
• Selection and use of fall arrest equipment
• Log book issue
• Course review
